Can Boix Peramola

The room was a little dated, but it had plenty of character. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom worked fine. Service and breakfast were excellent. It's a beautiful place for mountain walks, and I'd recommend it if you're traveling with dogs and want to enjoy nature. We'll be back.

There was only one waiter at dinner, Carlos, who was kind and professional, along with the hotel director serving tables. I don't know whether the director was working as a waiter or the waiter was also managing a 4-star hotel. The head waiter didn't speak English and was very rude to both guests and the waiting staff. There was a staff shortage even in August, and the service was extremely poor, nowhere near what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel. A hostel would do better. The food looked beautifully and professionally presented, but had no flavor at all, not even salt. I heard from some clients that it used to be a well-regarded family-run hotel, but the owners retired and a new company took over. Now, in my experience, things are being handled very badly. I didn't check all the comments beforehand. Looking now, I see they often mention the same issues, poor staffing and terrible food, while suddenly there are fake positive reviews. I suspect those came from friends or family of the company. I've never seen a hotel like this. It's a shame.

The restaurant food was delicious, and the staff were super friendly. We loved the rooms, amenities, and location at Can Boix. Highly recommended, we'll be back!

The roads around the area are fantastic for keen drivers, and this hotel makes an ideal base. It's also easy to spend a few days here just relaxing, with the outdoor pool, terraces, and incredible views of the dramatic rock faces. The setting in the foothills of the Pyrenees is beautiful, and the hotel is family run. Service and food were excellent, and our spacious, comfortable room had a large balcony. The chocolate biscuits in the welcome pack were a lovely touch.
