Far Home Atocha Hostel

The showers were clean and the facilities were generally good, but could use more tables, hooks, and surfaces. The bunk beds felt sturdy, though their ladder has an odd design and doesn't extend all the way up or down, which could be tricky if you're short. The location is amazing, and the women at the desk were lovely. The night shift man was a bit frosty, and I don't know why. When I asked to borrow an adapter after mine broke, he said they didn't have one. I find that hard to believe in a hostel where people forget things all the time. He also put me in the top bunk even though the lower bed beneath it stayed free all night.

The hostel was tidy, easy to find, and in a great spot with the metro, bus, train, restaurants, and tourist centre right nearby. The receptionist was helpful and polite, and the Indian woman in the lounge was so friendly, an angel really. I'll definitely come back. Gracias

I booked a private double room online and paid, but when I arrived they put me in a bunk bed room, saying no double rooms were available and the price was the same. A small balcony was shared with another room, with no curtains or other privacy between us, so light came straight into my room. The location and communal area were good, but the rooms were far too expensive.

The room was plain but clean and did the job, and the bathrooms were plentiful with good showers. Everything was clean and looked after. I found it hard to imagine better value in such a central spot, especially with a spacious, comfortable kitchen and common area, plus big supermarkets nearby if you want to cook. There's also a great Churro place at the end of the road and a nice outdoor patio beside the common room. They put effort into the hostel experience while we were there, with free coffee and churros in the morning, a guided city walk, and a movie night. The elevator music wasn't for me, and I prefer quiet. The piano in the common area was annoying when someone played badly at 10 pm.
