The coffee was really good, and the location is handy, just a minute from the metro into town. But sound carries through the whole building, so you can hear people in neighboring rooms clearly. Breakfast was only a few dry cakes. The person I saw running the place didn’t speak English, which made communication nearly impossible, and he was usually in the kitchen. That also made it hard to get help accessing the WiFi. The toilet needed some trick to refill the cistern. In the mornings, older local customers occupied about half the tables while topping up their coffee with spirits, so I can’t imagine there’s much room for guests in peak season. There was no hot water in the morning, apparently because someone else had used it already.

We arrived after 11 pm, and someone was there to let us in after I’d given them a heads-up. I stayed at oyo Hostal Picanya for one night. The staff were kind, and the room was very clean and smelled lovely. The bed was comfortable too. The room is small, honestly, but it’s just right if you only need somewhere to sleep and shower.

It’s in a quiet spot, which suited us perfectly, and the staff were lovely, kind, and attentive to the details. The train station is a minute away, with three lines, and Valencia center takes under 15 minutes by train. I’d recommend it for the value.

We’d booked two months ahead and were already on our way when an email arrived at 13:38 cancelling the booking. Check-in was at 15:00, so we had to call around for another hotel at the last minute and pay a lot more.
