Casa Rural Finca Umbría

The muddy, unpaved parking spot was the one snag: after it rained, getting to the house was tricky, especially at night. Aside from that, we had a lovely weekend with friends. The house is quiet and tucked away, just right for getting away from the city and relaxing. It’s clean, has plenty of bathrooms, and the mattresses, pillows and blankets all felt new. We appreciated being greeted with breakfast, too. The kitchen is huge, with a covered barbecue area that’s useful even in winter.

The owner is lovely, and we left after our weekend stay delighted. There’s covered parking, and town is close if you need anything. The house is cosy and well equipped, with an en-suite bathroom in every bedroom. The only small drawback is the upstairs wooden floor, which creaks loudly when you walk on part of it.

The children had room to run around the large country property, and Pirata (the dog) loved them. I really liked the stone house and its separate barbecue kitchen. They let us stay longer, thank you Lucía.

The owner is very friendly, and breakfast is included, though you have to prepare it yourself. There are lots of shared spaces, including gardens, a porch, living room, kitchen, dining room and barbecue area. The house is spacious but a little dark; all the rooms are somewhat small except one. It’s an old home with rustic decor, available to rent either as a whole or by the room. Set among pleasant meadows, the property is large enough that, despite bordering an industrial park, you don’t see its buildings and mostly hear birds. It’s about 5 km from Plasencia’s historic center.
