Palacio Carvajal Girón

The quiet courtyard and Renaissance details give Palacio Carvajal Girón a graceful, timeless feel. It has plenty of history, but the atmosphere is warm and welcoming rather than formal. Architecture, light, and quiet come together beautifully here. Palacio Carvajal Girón was a memorable stop that added charm and depth to our time in Plasencia.

This was our second time at Palacio Carvajal Girón, and the hotel itself is beautiful, with so much history. The rooms, entrance, and common areas are wonderful. On arrival, the staff were welcoming and helped us with parking, as well as suggesting places to eat nearby. The one thing that really brought the stay down was the woman serving breakfast. She was rude and cold to us and the other guests, just as she had been on our first visit in June 2025. I remembered her from then for how unfriendly she was. When the coffee machine stopped working, she was rude to me, and I watched her treat the other guests the same way. It was a 5-star experience apart from that, but her attitude left a bad impression.

We were given a refreshing drink, or cava, when we arrived, which was much appreciated. We also enjoyed a glass before bed. Our junior suite was very spacious and had an enormous bath that took hours to fill, but was a lot of fun, as were the double showers. The room was smart and clean, with quality bedding and furnishings. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was really nice, with tasty, well-prepared food, manageable portions, and cheerful, helpful service. Breakfast was high quality too, with a buffet and a short menu of hot egg dishes made to order, with bacon available.

The palace is beautifully maintained and makes a magical place to stay in the middle of the old quarter, close to the attractions. The bar is good, and housekeeping was excellent. Its four-star rating feels well deserved. There’s a small parking area for a fee, which is handy since parking inside the walls isn't allowed. In winter, though, the central heating in the restrooms could be better, especially early in the morning.
