The Parador is a remarkable, historic building in the old part of the city, with sights easily reached on foot. Our room was great and had a nice view. Dinner was the low point: we had a very unpleasant meal in the restaurant, and its manager was quite rude. I’d recommend staying at the hotel, but not eating there.

People often say this is Spain's best Parador. I haven't been to them all, but compared with the ones in Trujillo and Cáceres, this is the only one I'd make a special trip just to stay at. Guests can join a guided tour, and it's well worth doing.

The room was clean and well organized, and the bathroom was very good, though it had no ventilation fan. Breakfast looked good and tasted fine. Be sure to order fried eggs, bacon, and similar items from the à la carte menu. The restaurant food was good and the service there was impressive. I’m giving five stars because of the restaurant servers, since the receptionist we met was cold, indifferent, and very slow. There’s no elevator, so you’ll have to carry large bags up and down the stairs.

The Parador itself was beautiful and quiet, and our room was fabulous. There was a lot of noisy work going on outside, though. Some staff were blunt and dismissive, while the younger ones were a delight. Dinner at 8:30 felt late after a full day of travel, and service then took ages. Perhaps dinner could start a little earlier, say at 8 pm, though I know Paradores usually serve it at 8:30.
