Grupotel Flamingo Beach

The beachside location was great, with a promenade for walks, though the main strip of restaurants and shops is about 1 km away. I really enjoyed my week here in May and would stay again, but be ready for a decent walk to restaurants. I had a clean, spacious one-bedroom apartment on the first floor with a sea view. The complex is huge and could use some modernising in places. There are several pools, and finding a sun lounger wasn’t a problem. The balcony was very private and got afternoon and evening sun. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast had lots of options for different dietary needs. Some amenities were provided, including washing-up liquid and a kettle. I would have liked a tea towel for drying dishes and a sweeping brush. For those of us with loads of hair, the hairdryer was decent, better than the usual rubbish hotel ones that couldn’t blow snow off a rope.

The rooms are a little dated, but they were clean, so it wasn’t an issue for us. The apartments were well equipped with pots, pans and cutlery, and there was laundry service. The beds were comfortable, the service was great and the amenities were within walking distance. Breakfast had enough variety to try different things each day. There are kids’ pools and play areas, plus lots of organised activities, so it’s great for families.

It’s a big hotel, but the villa-style layout gave it a cozy, intimate feel. Our apartment was spacious, with a lovely sea view from the balcony. Breakfast and dinner were good value, and there was a big heated pool as well as a couple of others. Plenty of sun loungers and parking was easy to find. The staff were generally friendly and accommodating. There are good walks and hikes nearby, and we’d certainly come back, preferably once storm Teresa has stopped affecting the weather. That’s not the hotel’s fault. The food was good, though the restaurant could feel cozier, especially the adults-only section, which gives you a chance to get away from screaming kids.

The location is hard to beat, Playa Flamingo Beach is only a two-minute walk away. The apartments are lovely and get cleaned every day apart from Wednesdays and Sundays. There’s entertainment during the day and at night. The evening shows weren’t as good as ones we’ve seen at other resorts, but it’s still an excellent place to stay.
