Playa Blanca Beach Mate

It didn't ruin the holiday, but for what we paid, all the little things that needed fixing were disappointing. Our villa needed some items refurbished, and the main bedroom's duvet was damp, smelly and had dried blood on it. We contacted the company, but it wasn't replaced. Thankfully, there were three of us and we could use the spare duvet. There were sewerage smells on three of our ten days when the wind came from a certain direction and carried the stink from the treatment works. Villa 21 is on the edge of the complex, facing a huge, unfinished building site. No one was working there, and parts looked like a bomb site. We felt safe, but the view from the balcony took away from the atmosphere. We'd used Jet2 hotels quite a lot and liked them, so this didn't feel like the quality we expect from a Jet2 location. The villa does have a great pool, comfortable beds and pillows, a decent kitchen and BBQ, and showers that worked well. It's a 20-25-minute walk to Marina Rubicon and 45-55 minutes to play Blanca seafront, so having a car is very useful.

The villa has a lovely peaceful setting and the outdoor area is spacious, with a great pool. We liked the welcome pack of milk, juice, tea and jams, and when we said the water looked a bit cloudy, the company sent someone over that same day. We stayed in Villa 20 at the start of September and had a pleasant time, with the Marina about a 25-minute walk away and a supermarket close by. There were some cleanliness and maintenance issues: hair on the bedding and outdoor seating, rubbish under the cushions, a loose plug socket and shelf, a broken leg on the poolside sofa, and a missing cover for a pool jet. The last two had apparently been raised in reviews elsewhere before, but still hadn't been fixed. I worked in hospitality management and was responsible for cleaning and health and safety, so I know these details need attention. We didn't bring them up during the holiday because we wanted to relax, but I emailed afterwards. They replied quickly and said they'd look into everything, which I appreciated. The layout, outdoor space and quiet location make it a relaxing place with a lot of potential. With more attention to cleaning and upkeep, it could be a five-star stay. I'd consider coming back once those improvements have been made.

Lovely villas with a nice pool, great for a family or a group of friends.

Villa 21 was great, and the pool was lovely. A few small updates would help, like new flooring in one bedroom and a fresh coat of paint inside. I'd stay here again on a trip to lanzarote.
