Villa Raima

It felt like a home away from home, with a charm that made me wish I could live there full time. The host was lovely and just a text away, answered all our questions before we arrived, and went above and beyond. There were plenty of towels and extra pillows, and so far we haven’t found anything we didn’t like. Soap was provided in both bathrooms, though you’ll need your own shampoo and toiletries. That was fine for us. The villa is cosy and spotless. There are two very comfortable sofas, a large TV, and air conditioning in the living room overlooking the pool. Books are dotted around, and the candles were a nice touch, though we brought our own insect repellent tea lights. The key is in a lockbox beside the front door. There’s a small step at the entrance and another down to the pool, but our wheelchair managed both, and the doors were wide enough for our largest mobility scooter. We mostly ate at the outdoor table looking over the pool, though there’s also a nice glass dining table inside. Wi-Fi was fast enough at about 25 to 30 Mbps for Alexa music and Chromecast. Most living room sockets were in use, but our multi-socket travel adapter sorted that out. The kitchen has lots of utensils and a large fridge freezer. There’s a washing machine in the shower room, along with a sink, toilet and walk-in shower. The shower gets slippery when wet, so we used a thick towel to stand on. I’m sure they’ll have a shower mat soon. The en-suite has a bath with a shower head, sink and toilet. Both toilets have hairdryers. The switch for the outdoor pool area lights is behind the curtain near the TV. I thought they were automatic for the first couple of nights. The pool light switch is by the steps. There are four comfy sunbeds, and it’s easy to uncover the pool. I kept it covered at night because leaves were falling at that time of year. The steps into the pool, instead of a ladder, made access easier and safer for us. The two terrace sofas are really comfortable, and there’s a drying rack and pegs.
