Villas Coral Deluxe

Really peaceful and relaxing, and I'd certainly come back for another quick break. The place was spotless and had what we needed, including a washer and dishwasher. Shops and restaurants are walkable. We were lucky to have the cut-through behind us and could hop over the wall; otherwise it's about a ten-minute walk. For a week or longer I'd probably hire a car to get around, though the bus runs every 30 minutes, so it's manageable without one.

The place had good beds, a planted garden, a nice pool and most of the appliances we needed, including two kinds of coffee machine. We hadn't expected air conditioning, but all three rooms had it. The pool filter was noisy at first and got fixed quickly. Milk, coffee and water had been left for us, which was a nice touch. A lot of the equipment felt cheap and shaky compared with the photos: the fridge was missing shelves, the coffee machine leaked, the small dishwasher wobbled, and a button was broken on the extractor fan. There weren't enough sockets either, with just one in the kitchen for the coffee machine, kettle and toaster. The couch was old and smelled, a door dragged badly on the floor, and the living room fuse box was left open. WiFi was fast but only worked near the living room couch. An afternoon shade option would help, since the awning only covers the morning. We'd booked the Villas Coral Deluxe location shown on the site but were put in a villa about 300 metres away. It wasn't a major problem, just odd. The house was fine, though it didn't live up to what the photos promised. We were also meant to get a clean and fresh towels after a week. Neither happened, even after we told reception, so the service was very poor.

The pool is bigger than the photos suggest, and the gardens were just as expected. We loved the villa and would definitely come back. The master bedroom was the highlight, with lots of space, an ensuite, dressing area and a huge terrace. The two ground-floor bedrooms were fine and shared a bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed, including pots and pans, a washing machine and dishwasher, plus there was a safe. There isn't air conditioning, but fans are provided throughout. The cable channels are mostly useful if you speak German or Spanish, so bring DVDs or use a hard drive or USB with the TV. We came in January, and evenings could be chilly, but a jumper was enough to sit outside comfortably. Local shops and restaurants are around the corner, and the supermarket had pretty much everything we needed. This is a self-catering villa holiday, so you're left to manage things yourself. The key pickup hotel is some distance away, so be ready for a walk or hire a car, as we did.

The deluxe villas are a good choice compared with the regular ones at VIK club. They had the kitchen utensils we needed, an outdoor BBQ and parking for two vehicles. The villas are great and the location is quite decent. I'd recommend staying in the deluxe villas.
