Villa Xian

The pool and hot tub were the best parts for us. The hot tub was clean and working when we arrived, though it could use headrests, and the main pool area was lovely until we noticed that white clothes came out green. The silver fountain never ran, and the two men who came to look at the pool didn't know about either problem. The kids' pool had dirt in it when we arrived. Outside, the BBQ and table had no working lights, and some pool table pockets let the balls drop onto the tiles. The table itself and dining area were great fun. Villa Xian looks stylish, but several things need attention. A lot of the outdoor lights were out, and there were more that didn't work indoors. The house was clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and mostly well-equipped bedrooms, but some TV or AC remotes were missing. The kids' room had ants coming in under the outside door, which were dealt with using spray, and a wooden panel looked mouldy and seemed to have been painted over repeatedly. The downstairs accessible room had a toilet door that wouldn't close or lock, so morning light woke you early. Its shower looked impressive and had good pressure and temperature, but water ran down the ramp and flooded the toilet floor within a couple of minutes. It didn't drain well and the shower wasn't fixed securely to the wall. The other downstairs shower also leaked onto the floor and its toilet had no lock. Upstairs, the jacuzzi bath spat out black bits. The shower by the gym did the same from its jets and drained slowly, so we had to remove the plug each time. The dishwasher worked, but wasn't secured to the kitchen unit and sometimes made a very loud noise. The living room had a big TV and couch, though it isn't really a movie room: the surround sound and LED light remote didn't work. The Fire Stick and AC did work there. The gym was well equipped but we barely used it; the electric sauna worked once it had time to heat up. Table tennis was fun, although it was hard to keep the balls on the roof. WiFi was okay, though roaming 5G may be faster. It's a five-minute taxi ride to Playa Blanca, in a very quiet residential area, with a supermarket about five minutes on foot. The shop staff didn't really speak English, which is simply a fact about the area, not a positive or negative for me. For a villa advertised as a five-star experience at this price, it felt short of that standard. It needs maintenance and a refresh.
