Coral Compostela Beach Hotel

The location is hard to beat, with the Golden Mile at the front and the beach behind the hotel. There were plenty of sun loungers, so finding one shouldn’t be an issue. We were a family of ten and have just come back from ten days at coral compestela beach. The rooms were adequate, nothing special, but the cleaning staff kept them immaculate. A special mention to Joel and Adela at the malibu bar. Their attentive service and warm smiles made the holiday even more enjoyable. They’re a real credit to the company. Would I return? Definitely.

Playa de las Vistas was one of the main reasons we keep coming back. The sandy beach is lovely for relaxing and swimming, and this time the ocean was perfect for a dip. The complex is about 50 meters from the beach, in the Golden Mile area, close to just about everything. There’s free street parking, a small shop on site for essentials, and a Mercadona roughly 5-10 minutes away on foot. You can also rent mobility scooters from reception, and the beach is fully adapted for people with reduced mobility or disabilities. We’ve stayed here for years and still enjoy it. The pools were clean and heated, with the water checked daily. Even when some guests tried to claim sunbeds around 7:30 in the morning, we always found somewhere to sit. The cleaning team worked hard from 7 a.m. The staff are friendly, and the Malibu restaurant is a regular highlight for us: fresh, varied food, kind waiters and very affordable all-you-can-eat buffet prices. The apartment you get makes a difference. Some units in Tenerife hotel complexes are privately owned, which can make it difficult to organize renovations. The complex could use some updating, and this year especially we noticed ants or little bugs in a few apartments and even in some hallways.

The Lolo and Bernie Club was the best part for us. Our three-year-old loved the activities, especially the mini disco, and the girls who ran it were amazing. They really made her holiday. The hotel itself is great too, right by the beach and close to everything we could need.

My partner got very sick with food poisoning on the last day, and I did too on my first night home. A week later, I’m still not fully recovered. I’ve never had food this bad anywhere, hotels included. The bacon and sausages were undercooked every morning, so we soon stopped eating the meat after it made me throw up. There was also a rotten tomato they still chose to cook and serve, and the supposedly fresh vegetables tasted off. The day menu wasn’t any better, just a few cheap ingredients, and everything seemed undercooked. They couldn’t even melt the cheese in a toastie or cook the fries properly. Thankfully, what made me throw up passed quickly and didn’t make me ill during the holiday, but the rest of it has left my memory of tenerife as nothing but feeling sick and throwing up. I have no words for the shameful food they charge so much for and expect people to eat. Just look at the picture, that’s supposed to be bacon.
