The staff were faultlessly polite and worked extremely hard. The mango smoothies from the pool bar were a highlight. Even so, I only just give this family stay at Mediterranean Palace four stars. We chose all inclusive, which probably only makes sense if you drink alcohol, as we don’t. The food was reasonable, but I expected better fresh fruit and salads and more variety. There were plenty of fish dishes, while veggie and vegan choices were limited. At breakfast, queuing for a table was common, and the dining area for breakfast and dinner felt like a crowd to push through to get food. Our room was a reasonable size, clean and recently renovated, with the things you’d expect. It was centrally located on the second floor, close to the loud music that played until 11pm every night. That was difficult with our younger kids’ early bedtimes. I mentioned it at check-in and was told it would be fine. The patio doors blocked a lot of the sound, but it was still louder than expected, though we got more used to it over the holiday. My expectations may have been too high for a hotel described as five star. The facilities might fit that label, but the experience felt like being a sausage in a sausage factory, not five star.

The hotel is right by the beach, with lovely surroundings and everything conveniently close. Food was excellent throughout our stay, fresh, varied, nicely presented and very good quality. Staff across the hotel were welcoming, attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere felt luxurious while still relaxed. Carmen at reception deserves a special mention. Her kind, elegant and professional welcome made us feel at home straight away. She had a lovely smile and positive attitude, and went above and beyond whenever we needed anything. She’s a real credit to the hotel and the sort of person who makes guests want to return. We had an outstanding stay at Mediterranean Palace in Tenerife. It exceeded our expectations, and was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. We’ll definitely return and recommend it to everyone we know.

The kids’ club was awesome, both the equipment and, most of all, the lovely staff. The pools were great too, the food had just the right amount of variety, and the gym was small but well equipped. Being right beside the beach is the ultimate luxury. We’re staying for the fourth consecutive year at Mare Nostrum Resort, and by now we’ve been to all three hotels. This year and last, we chose Mediterranean palace, and it’s simply perfect for us. It was completely refurbished less than two years ago, the rooms are modern and well laid out, and the service is delightful, especially the care and attention the kids get. We’ll definitely be back!

The location is perfect. The nearby beach is excellent, and pairing time there with the great pool made the days especially good. We always found sun chairs available. I’d also recommend room 6003 for its unexpected walk-in closet and amazing views. The room was clean and newly renovated, and the housekeeping staff were kind and did a great job. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, with lots of choice. I don’t understand the reviews saying the food was cold. Entertainment can make some noise until 2300 if you have a pool view, but that’s expected at this kind of hotel. Our five-year-old had no trouble falling asleep, and we thought the entertainment was high quality. The kids’ activities were great, especially the mini-disco. The hotel is centrally located and clean, with friendly staff. We don’t agree with the bad reviews and think it deserves a better Google and Tripadvisor score. People expecting the Ritz or something similar from a five-star rating may have misunderstood the rating system. The service is excellent and the facilities justify the rating. We especially recommend the restaurants Sebastian, Almar and Zenzero. 5/5

The design and decor really won me over. I thought the hotel looked fantastic and would call it five star. The staff were amazing, from reception and entertainment to the cleaners, who greeted us every day. The people running games and sports like volleyball were energetic and positive, and I really liked those activities. They did an exceptional job. The buffet was great, though I’d have liked to see more of a traditional Irish breakfast. There’s a luggage scale, which is a handy bonus, and reception staff do their best to accommodate you. We had the best experience Tenerife could have given us. I’d choose this hotel again and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the future.
