The food was high quality and nicely presented, and the Verona Italian restaurant was excellent, with terrific service. Staff were generally friendly and attentive, especially at the poolside buffet and Coloquio piano bar. We did have a few small service issues, but management responded very positively and professionally. On this return visit, the hotel and grounds were immaculate. Our all-inclusive standard room was spacious, modern, and well equipped. It faced the Beunavista hotel and had a partial sea view. If you want sun on your balcony, I'd suggest upgrading. The Wi-Fi has improved since our last visit, and there are more English-speaking TV channels. The minibar was restocked daily, so we always had plenty of bottled water. We had a very pleasant, restful stay at the Roca and are sure to return.

The staff are still attentive, and the setting is beautiful, but the evening dining atmosphere has changed a lot. What used to feel refined and peaceful now feels more like a busy fast-food restaurant. There are areas set aside for families, but they're not well enforced, and that takes away from the experience for couples and anyone looking for quiet and elegance. I've visited The Rocca Navaria probably more than eight times over the years. It used to be my go-to for a relaxing, quiet, romantic holiday, with consistently excellent rooms, food, and staff and a real five-star feel. In recent years, the focus seems to have shifted toward families. That may suit some guests, but I hope management can balance family services with what long-standing guests valued about the hotel's original charm, and bring back that five-star experience.

Luis carried our luggage to the room and gave us a genuinely warm welcome. He was kind and professional, and we felt cared for. At dinner, Davide and Ana Maria looked after us attentively and warmly. Ana Maria seemed very experienced. Yamei also welcomed us kindly, and the housekeeping team kept our room spotless and were consistently friendly and attentive. The hotel was very clean and tidy, with well-maintained rooms and common areas. The food had plenty of delicious options for vegans and vegetarians. Reception staff were professional, though not especially friendly, and we didn't feel warmly welcomed there. The Spa and its reception were the main disappointment. Service felt noticeably less attentive than elsewhere in the hotel, so we cancelled the massages we had planned. Despite a few drawbacks, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the cleanliness, dining choices, and staff members who made a real difference.

The room was spacious and clean, and the gym was enough for a good workout. There are plenty of options for families, and the hotel also seems very accessible. We were especially pleased with the vegan choices in the all-inclusive. Lovely hotel and very kind service.

The all-inclusive package ended at midday on departure day, which felt early given our later pick-up. Evening entertainment varied in quality, though it wasn't a deal-breaker. Even during October half term, the hotel never felt too busy, and things were well organised throughout. It's particularly suited to families, though couples looking for a quieter base could enjoy it too. We'd just spent a week at Roca Nivaria Gran Hotel in Playa Paraíso, Tenerife, with our son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. It's a large, very well-run five-star hotel with a classic rather than modern style. Everything felt clean, spacious, and professionally managed. Our Superior Double Room with Sea View was bright and comfortable, noticeably larger than most hotel rooms, with excellent storage and a huge balcony overlooking lovely sunsets. It had air conditioning, a minibar topped up daily on all-inclusive, a coffee machine, kettle, safe, USB sockets, and a large walk-in shower. Our family's room was even bigger, split into two spaces, which worked well with the children. The hotel's shoreline setting gives excellent sea views. Playa Paraíso is a quieter resort on the south-west coast, with a small strip of bars, restaurants, and shops nearby and a larger shopping centre about a 15-minute walk away. Taxis and local buses make getting around easy, and the airport transfer from Tenerife South took about 30 minutes. The main restaurant was a highlight, with excellent food and lots of variety over the week. Even with six of us, we always found a seat, and outdoor dining was available at every meal. There are Italian and Spanish à la carte restaurants, plus a pool bar for relaxed lunches such as pizza and burgers. Staff were consistently friendly and attentive. The relaxed Lobby Bar and Piano Bar were good for evening drinks and entertainment. There are several pools, including a heated salt-water main pool, a quieter lower pool, and the RoniAventura area with slides and water features. Our grandchildren made full use of that area. We also liked having direct access to a small volcanic beach for a quick swim or a change from the pool. Other facilities include a free gym, tennis courts with rackets provided, spa treatments, kids' clubs, late check-out shower facilities, on-site shops, and underground parking. The hotel app is handy for schedules and activities. The room sizes, food, cleanliness, and organisation stood out most to us.
