The little thoughtful details made this place especially comfortable, like the shelf in the roomy shower that keeps everything close at hand. The bed was comfortable, the house was clean, warm, and cozy, and the homeowner gave me a lovely welcome. I came with my laptop to work somewhere peaceful for a few days, and the walking and exercise nearby were great. I’ll be back soon.

Getting up from Pontones takes about 700 meters of winding road and steep climbs, so it’s part of the adventure. Still, I’d happily give the stay five stars. The house looks out over a green valley with fairytale views, and it’s a lovely base for exploring the Urbina Natural Park. Marisa and her daughter were so welcoming and gave us excellent suggestions for routes and sights around Asturias. We spent five days exploring the area, and the house had everything we needed despite being surrounded by nature.

We stayed during Holy Week and loved the beautiful surroundings and the fantastic neighbors. Just make sure you know exactly where the house is, because the hill up to it is steep. I drove up in a van, but it helps to know the way. Marisa is lovely and works hard to make sure everything is just right. I wish her all the best.

A lovely walk takes you through the Cadillera gorge up to the Maruxales mountain pastures and the La Mesa ridge. The Huerna Valley (Lena) is a peaceful place to stay, right inside the Ubiñas-La Mesa Natural Park.
