Cabot Pollensa Park Spa

We won’t be coming back. The beach was lovely and it’s a beautiful island, but the hotel itself left us baffled, especially given its four-star rating and how full it was. I also noticed that negative reviews seem to get a prompt rebuttal from the hotel, which adds to the mystery. From the outside, the building looked nothing like the photo, more like a faded grey Lego set from the 80s. Inside, the lack of air conditioning hit hard. A few wall grilles put out a little cool air if you held your hand against them, like a convict trying to plan an escape. The rooms had the same grim first impression. Huge glass windows had no blinds, and with no air conditioning we felt blinded and fried every time we went back. The rooms were so cramped you couldn’t swing a cat. We tried to get lunch in the dining room, which felt like a converted aircraft hangar. It was packed and so loud we couldn’t talk, hear, or think. The food was awful. Everything tasted off, nearly off, or like something else entirely. The cauliflower was unlike anything I’d tried and impossible to describe, almost like polystyrene with a diabolical sauce. We ate out a lot. I lived on ice cream for 10 days, and my son was sick everywhere, including in the foyer in front of the guests. Nobody seemed fazed, perhaps they’d seen it before. The room design got stranger the further we went. Some wall pictures were only empty frames. My 2 year old daughter touched the shower curtain while showering, and it came down like a zeppelin. It wasn’t fixed to the wall, just wedged in. The shower was comedy gold, even funnier than the artwork. The wardrobes looked as if they’d been fitted in a rush around 1980 with the cheapest materials. Even the floor number was held on with insulation tape. The electrics looked like a death trap, and so did the fruit juices and cocktails. Lord knows what was in them.

We’ve just come back from a week here, 25th October to 1st November. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We had a lovely week and would definitely recommend Pollensa park and spa to others, but we wouldn’t return at the end of the season. It felt like they were waiting to shut the door behind us. The pools were really cold, like an ice bath. We booked bed and breakfast, so I can’t comment on daytime food, but breakfast was standard at first. As the week went on, though, it dwindled. Half the fruit disappeared, they took away a toaster, and there were no croissants, crusty bread, scrambled egg, cookies, or smoothies. One end of the drink station was closed, and half the breakfast stations were empty. All of this was there at the start of our holiday, which was frustrating. Most restaurants around the hotel closed around Wednesday. A glass of fizzy pop cost €2.50, and they didn’t accept cash, which annoyed us because we didn’t want to use a credit card but ended up doing so. The kids clubs were hit and miss. We went once during the week, and it didn’t seem to open again. The mini disco ran every night except one or two. Evening entertainment was nice, varied, and had something for everybody.

We had a great week here with our toddler. The hotel is within walking distance of Port de Pollenca, and service was very good. Breakfast had a good selection, and the evening mini disco was fun, especially for the children.

Just got home after a week here and would definitely return and recommend it. The splash park was amazing for the kids, and the spa was lovely. Staff were all very friendly, the rooms were very good, and although ours wasn’t refurbished, it was clean and nice. The food was so good, with plenty to choose from at every sitting. I loved the paella at lunchtime. The one thing I’d suggest is adding more parasols around the pool. Thanks for a lovely stay.
