Hoposa Apartamentos Montelin

We checked with reception before leaving Hoposa Montelin to make sure everything had been paid. Staff assured us it was all settled and there was nothing else to pay. Later, we found we’d been charged again for a dinner that was already paid for. That’s unacceptable, and now we’re being told the refund could take up to 5 days. Such poor service and a really frustrating experience. Guests need to be able to trust what reception tells them.

We were surprised by how much we liked Hoposa Montelin. After reading the mostly negative Google reviews, I was uneasy about the booking and the hotel. My parents and I had reserved one night through booking.com after finishing the GR221 in Port de Pollenca. When we arrived shortly after the 2pm check-in time, everything looked so exquisite and noble that I wondered if we were in the right place. Our room was ready. It was a little apartment with a kitchen, coffee machine, kettle, stoves, toaster, plenty of dishes and even wine glasses. It was in a separate building across the street from the lobby and restaurant, which was no problem for us. The pools looked inviting, and there was a drying rack on the balcony for wet clothes or towels. It was all much more than we expected. Breakfast was a dream after the Refugis: fruit, legume, English breakfast, omelettes made fresh to order, pancakes, sweets, porridge, lots of cereal choices, different breads, joghurt, cheese, ham and antipasti. I can’t remember everything. It was all fresh and delicious, and we felt a little overwhelmed by how much good food there was. There were lots of cyclists staying there, but the night was very calm apart from the mosquitoes. We opened the balcony door a little and a lot of mosquitoes came in, so maybe nets would help. The shower water was also very unsteady. At 4pm, after we got back from the beach, it was cold, and in the morning it kept switching between cold and hot. Those things didn’t change our very positive impression. If we return to Port de Pollenca, we’d definitely stay here again. For that price, it’s unbeatable.

There’s a separate Montelin apartment block with mini self-catering apartments, as well as hotel rooms and a large pool. It’s a wonderful hotel for sport and families, with good facilities on site, including a training pool, gym, secure bike garage, bar and restaurant. The only downside was the awful TV reception, though honestly I didn’t need it 🤷🏼.

The rooms are cleaned every day, and it’s only a short walk to the Marina, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Montelin has 24 nice studios in a two-floor building arranged around a pool. It shares reception with the larger Villaconcha hotel, and guests can use the hotel facilities. Villaconcha is better for children, with a play area and lifeguards. The Montelin pool is small and deep, and has no lifeguard.
