Las Velas

We spent a week here. The pools were clean and in great condition, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our modern double room was perfect for a couple, with a spacious balcony. Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at!

It’s a flat 20-minute walk to the resort center, though there are a couple of good bars nearby. There are souvenir shops and mini markets close by, but they’re quite expensive. The Eroski centre up the road is a better option, though it’s quite a walk back with shopping bags. The rooms are nice, especially if you like a jacuzzi, but ours lacked a few things, like a dustpan and brush and a clothes maiden. We paid €18 tax and almost €50 for the room safe. During our first week there was no Wi-Fi and nobody at reception. Maybe it was because the season was just starting, but the place was locked up and it felt like we were too. In the second week we could get a beer, but there’s no bar, just drinks over the reception counter.

We booked a 42m² apartment six months ahead, but got one barely half that size. It was tiny and cluttered, with a toilet right in front of the bed that wouldn’t close properly. The place was filthy, damp, and unlivable. In three days we were moved three times, with no help carrying our bags, even though we had two young kids. Avoid at all costs.

We spent a few nights at Cabot Las Velas and had a pleasant stay. The premium room had what we needed, from towels, soap, and a hair dryer to cooking utensils, a refrigerator, and dishwashing supplies. The hot tub worked well and was a nice extra.
