Hotel Temple Ponferrada

The three course set menu was very good value, nicely presented, and served by a helpful, professional waiter. We booked because the hotel looked unusual and exciting, but sadly the rest of the stay didn't live up to that impression. The beds seemed to move around the room whenever I turned over, and both our rooms had problems. My bathroom towels had obvious red lipstick or stage makeup marks and looked soiled or poorly cleaned by the laundry. My colleague's room had bedbugs, so sleep was impossible. We complained at reception, but were told the towels were the laundry's responsibility, and nobody offered replacements. They shrugged off the bedbug issue too. The hotel has huge potential, but nobody seems keen to deal with the basics.

Avoid this place. Bedbugs were crawling on the room walls, as the photos show. The breakfast was very average, and the window looked out over bins. I complained at reception, but was told the manager wasn't available.

The room was nice, with a bidet and tub, and the bed was comfortable. But room service didn't open until 8pm. I placed an order, then got called downstairs at 8:45pm to collect it. The burger and fries were cold, the ice cream was melting, and there was no spoon. It seemed more like Uber Eats than room service from their restaurant. I don't understand it, and I don't recommend this hotel.

The front reception staff are fantastic, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. Once I checked into my room and sat on the bed, I spotted bedbugs within 30 minutes. They moved me to another room, but I woke up with bites and found bedbugs again. The owner or manager was aggressive and rude to me. The hotel is also very dated.
