Albergue GBC hostel

The facilities are nice and were pretty clean, but there are a few frustrating gaps. There’s nowhere to wash clothes or hang them, and the dorms don’t get the wifi signal. There are also hardly any hooks or spots near the beds for towels or clothes. At 19€, I feel like they could add these things.

The room was clean and spacious, and the location is perfect for pilgrims on the Camino de Portugués. But the night I stayed, the power went out in my room. It didn’t affect every room, just a few, and all the staff had already left. I tried contacting them through the booking website, but nobody replied and there was no other way to reach anyone. It was a huge inconvenience: I couldn’t charge my phone or power bank, and it felt like being in a cave with beds and a toilet. Everyone in my room had to use a headlamp to go to the toilet. No one came to fix it or explain what happened, even by checkout. Very disappointing.

This hostel has potential, but we ran into a couple of problems. At 2am, someone woke us by walking loudly around the room, rummaging through things, and moving through the hall and common areas. We also saw other people get keys for lockers or storage under their beds. When we asked, we were told our beds didn’t have keys or lockers, without a clear explanation.

There were no curtains on the beds, and people didn’t keep quiet after 10pm, so it’s definitely not a good place to get a peaceful night’s rest on the Camino. The kitchen was dirty, as was the room floor.
