Hostal Meson do Loyo

The service was superb. We stayed at Hotel Meson do Loyo while walking from Sarria to Santiago, and the room was spotless and comfortable. They drove us the short distance to the restaurant for dinner and brought us back afterward. The food was excellent.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the ride to and from town was prompt. The staff were helpful, but the owner came across as grumpy both at dinner and breakfast. We’d made a mistake with our prepaid dinner order and paid the difference, yet he was still surly about it. Breakfast was the worst we had all week on the Camino. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The restaurant gave me one of the best meals I’ve had, and the rooms are spotless, many with a lake view. It’s a welcome break from the albergues. The place is a little out of the way for the Camino, but call when you reach Portomarin and they’ll pick you up, then drop you back on the route the next morning. They even helped me book a room at my next stop. The staff are wonderful, and I highly recommend staying here.

The riverbank view was lovely, and the host was very nice. My room was clean, and the restaurant had good food at low prices. They’ll pick you up and drop you off in Portomarin, since there isn’t really a way to walk there. A taxi costs 5 euros. I tried following the riverbank, but it felt too dangerous. The WiFi was poor, and sound carried through the room.
