The noise was the reason for my two-star rating. I could hear people upstairs walking, dragging chairs, and moving furniture on the tiled floors, along with voices. The disturbance went on past midnight. My room seemed to be right above the dining hall, and it was loud for hours. As a Camino pilgrim, I was hoping to sleep by 10 pm, but I was still awake at 12:30 AM. If you stay, I’d ask for a room on the 2nd floor. There were some good points: the location was good, the room was spacious, the bathroom was extremely nice, and the bed was OK. The pillows were very large and made of heavy foam, which wasn’t great, though I think most people would manage. There was a private balcony, but I couldn’t open the door. I was told the doors were very difficult, so I gave up.

After 28 days walking, I really appreciated a night without the albergue snoring chorus. The rooms are spacious and clean, right on the Camino de Santiago, and they have air conditioning.

The terrace view from the restaurant is nice, and the bar and restaurant server was quick and friendly. The rooms are spacious and very clean, with renovated bathrooms that look good. But the furnishings felt sparse and dated, and didn’t seem up to today’s standards. For what was offered, the price felt quite high.

It was quiet, and I slept so well in a spacious, comfortable room with what I think was my favourite bed and linen setup so far. You can control the AC or heating yourself. The place is conveniently near the Camino and downtown, and the reception and kitchen staff were very helpful. I enjoyed supper there, and the bathroom was clean. I did notice a sewage smell from the drains. I’m sensitive to smells, but covering them with a towel and keeping the bathroom door shut made it tolerable. I don’t know if it’s a plumbing issue related to being so close to the river. They only provide one soap that doubles as shampoo.

We arrived at Villa Jardin during the blackout in Spain and Portugal, and the staff were amazing about making sure guests had what they needed. My travel companion can’t eat gluten, so they arranged wonderful salads for her. The location, cleanliness, and comfort were all worth five stars, but the staff made it feel like ten.
