David and Sonya made our long-awaited family reunion in the Valley of Valdeon feel really special. My husband and I came all the way from California for two weeks, and they were warm, gracious hosts who were always attentive. The Hostal was comfortable and spotless, with historical sites and breathtaking trails close by. We loved the authentic dishes from Castille-Leon served in the dining room and at the pub next door. We’ll be back next year, this time with our adult children, so they can experience the valley’s cherished European customs too.

We liked it enough to stop again on our way home just to have another serving of eggs on toast. The refurbished room was comfortable, and dinner and breakfast were both delicious. A great stay all around.

The manager was very accommodating and let us leave our car in the hostal lot while we hiked to Pandetrave and Collado Jermoso after checking out. We had a refurbished room at the back, with a field and nearby mountains outside the window and a stream about 10 meters away. It was very quiet at night except for the water. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large, and the bar downstairs seems to be a popular spot in this small village. Recommended.

The rooms are nice, but the food was terrible for me as a vegetarian. All they could offer was a plain salad and fries, and the others in my group weren’t impressed either.

Posada de Valdeón felt so peaceful, with wonderful views of the European peaks. The hotel is centrally located, and its rooms are clean, pleasant, and refurbished. The staff were friendly and breakfast was fine. The drive from León is a pleasure for the eyes. David, the hotel owner, suggested the beautiful Posada-Cain stretch, saying it shouldn’t be overlooked even though the Cares route is better known for Cain-Poncebos. We tried it and agreed. We’ll return.
