Hotel Gastronómico Mas Mariassa

The peaceful scenery was lovely, but by the end we felt this place wasn’t anything special compared with similar hotels in Catalunya. We spent a family weekend here with young children and stayed in the "Family Room". The room was fine for four, modern, and quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. Service was professional and pleasant, available when needed without hovering. Breakfast came served at the table rather than as a buffet, with fresh local cold and cooked options, and I left full. Dinner was a la carte and worth considering, with good portions of fresh local food at reasonable prices. The Angus burger and Fricando were especially memorable. The setting and terrace are a shepherd’s delight, and there’s an electric car charging point on site. Nearby medieval Pratdip is a must see, and road cyclists should bring a bike, since the road between the hotel and the beach is popular on Sunday mornings. There were some drawbacks for families. The hotel had recently been "Adults only", and that seemed to show in the room details and in where we were directed to eat, away from the couples. Most menu options seemed aimed at adults, so finding food for young children was hard. The room TV was small and felt almost symbolic. WiFi in the room was fiddly and depended on hotspot reception. The modern bathroom looked beautiful, but the shower drained over half the floor, as if the design favored looks over function.

Griselda, who greets you, is a delight and happy to answer questions or help find a drink or snack during the day. This is a peaceful place where you can read and unwind. If you care about food, Francesc’s cooking is a real draw: every night there’s a 5 course meal (€30) that shows off his skills. My girlfriend and I came down to this beautiful little farm house after a few days in Barcelona, on my cousin’s recommendation. Highly recommended.

A lovely, quiet hotel in Pratdip that’s great for a relaxing break. The restaurant serves amazing fresh food made with locally sourced ingredients.

A great place to relax, and a handy base for exploring the Priorat wineries. We really enjoyed our stay.
