Hostal Rural Amador

The bill put me off coming back. We paid 38 euros for two set menus and wine, even though drinks and dessert were included and we didn't order dessert. We asked whether Resalso, the Ribera del Duero wine on the list, was available by the glass, and they said yes. Instead, they brought a partly opened bottle of a different wine that we didn't like. Then they charged 15 euros for a bottle. When I complained, they charged 5 euros per glass for two glasses. I usually pay 3 or 3.50 euros for a glass of Resalso, so 5 euros for wine that was probably included in the set menu felt like a rip-off. Never again.

After waiting 20 minutes at our table without anyone asking if we wanted a drink, I got up to ask a waitress for the menu. She answered aggressively and rudely. The terrace seemed poorly organized, and the dinner service was poor too. In the end, we got up and left. I don't recommend it.

The dining room is a little small but adequate, though the decor could use an update. I haven't tried the hostel, so I can't rate it. The menu was very reasonably priced, and every dish we ordered was just right for both taste and portion size. Service was quite good and quick.

We were a group of 11, and the place itself was lovely. The food was delicious, and the young waitress who served us was charming. The man who seemed to be the owner was unpleasant and very unprofessional, and didn't seem fit to run an establishment. We took one geranium leaf because it had a special color. He reacted as if we'd stolen gold, and kept being disrespectful even after we apologized. The biggest disappointment was leaving an 11-euro tip. We hope it went to the waitress. I'd have left him a candy to sweeten his day a little.
