Casa Luisa

The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable, each with its own bathroom, and the whole house is beautifully kept. The view from the entrance is spectacular. We were a group of friends staying at El Toral house for the weekend, and it was already warm when we arrived. Lorena had left us a wonderful cake, such a lovely welcome. We had a great time!

The kitchen was amazing and easily big enough for all 10 of us. The house itself is great, though the stairs make it unsuitable for wheelchair users. I have limited mobility, so I only went upstairs a couple of times to see my nieces and nephews and look at the bedrooms. The rooms were lovely, but I’d swap the bathtubs in the downstairs bedrooms for showers. Upstairs, one room had a bathtub and the other two had showers, with a TV in one of them. We came as a family group, with relatives from Móstoles, Madrid, and my partner and me from Avilés. Two nights went by far too quickly. The owner gave us a lovely little gift when we arrived, and we really appreciated it. They were delicious! Thanks for being so kind to my aunt, my sister, and all of us, including my partner and me. I hope you come back soon so we can visit again. Fantastic place, highly recommended! 👌🏻👍🏻

The owner also runs the bar, and on our last day we asked her to make us a set menu. She’s a fantastic cook. If I’d known, I would have asked her to cook for us many more times. She also made gluten-free meals for someone in our group with celiac disease. The guesthouse was spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. It’s a great place for a holiday or long weekend. The people who run it are warm and caring, welcoming you like an old friend. I didn’t expect to get so fond of them in just two weeks. I only met a few people from the village, but they all seemed very endearing, especially the future mayor, who I wish all the best. A big hug and thank you for the hospitality.

The peace of the countryside, the quiet lanes, and the chance to explore nearby local spots made our stay a real pleasure. The scenery and opportunities were spectacular, with Casa Luisa in Puertas de Cabrales sitting roughly halfway between the Cantabrian Coast and Picos de Europa. When we were ready to call it a day, there were spacious, well-equipped places to stay. Our large group had everything we needed, thanks to the old-fashioned care from Pepe and Dña. Carmen, along with Lorena, their helpful daughter and the current owner. Casa Luisa is a warm, welcoming place to rest, and I’d happily recommend it. "Campo de Trabajo 2022", FUSP-CEU (Madrid)
