BLUESEA Puerto Resort

The staff were polite and helpful, and the food was generally good with a great selection. Our room had a nice view of mount teide, but it wasn't up to four-star standard. The carpet was threadbare, the curtains stained, and the furniture shabby. The fridge was freestanding when it should have been built in. The cleaners did their best, but the room still fell short.

The room was spacious and clean, but very dated. It had a fridge but no kettle, and after reading so many reviews about bed bugs, I felt on edge. I was glad I’d brought my own bed bug spray. We heard every bang from other guests, who were very loud and showed no respect for anyone else. The whole blue sea resort looks lovely and clean when you arrive, but the welcome was mixed. Some staff were somewhat friendly if you spoke their language, while others seemed like they didn’t want to be there. We first went to bonanza, got a card, and were told to go to the sister hotel. That was fine, but we hadn't been given any information. Customer service should be for everyone, not just a select few. There wasn't much food choice. My daughter and I mostly lived on chips and lettuce, and skipped breakfast because the evening meal was enough to put us off. All-inclusive wasn't worth it. The lager was good San Miguel, but nobody explained where to get drinks, which bar to use, or how to get coffee. There was a bar by the pool, but its options were limited. If you're looking for something cheap, this might do. It wouldn't be my first choice again.

We changed rooms three times after finding bed bugs. When I first mentioned insects to reception, the staff seemed to know about the problem and simply moved us. The second room had the same issue. At night or early in the morning, I saw bugs hiding behind the paintings while trying to take photos or video. We also found one in the bedsheets and noticed rows of small bites all over our bodies. After I explained this at reception, they moved us again. The service was so poor that I feel forced to either throw away my belongings and suitcase rather than risk bringing the bugs home. They could at least have offered to chemically clean our things, though that wouldn't make up for the psychological stress. I'm terribly disappointed and plan to make an official complaint. I seriously don't understand why this hotel is still operating.

The furniture was old and poor quality, and we found bed bugs on the very first night. We got lots of bites. When I asked to move rooms, they put us in a smaller one, even though we had paid for a superior room with a cot bed, and we received no compensation. A horrible experience.
