Apartamentos Masaru

We visited in January and had a nice room overlooking the pool. From the balcony, the pool and mountains, including Teide, looked lovely. The pool area is cozy, the heated pool is a big plus, and relaxing and swimming in the warm water was great. Pool-facing rooms with balconies are lovely; rooms facing the street aren’t as nice. Service was good, and I’d possibly come back. The room had a few downsides. The beds felt old and squeaked so much that one person turning over could wake everyone. I missed having proper duvet covers, since it’s more comfortable to put a cover on the blanket. There was only hand soap, no shampoo or conditioner. We’d arrived late from Norway without shampoo and the shops were already closed, so even having some for the first day would have helped. There wasn’t any tea, coffee, or sugar either. A few sachets would be nice after a long trip.

The bar was a highlight: quick service, generous measures, and a friendly atmosphere. Mary, one of the bar staff, has a lovely smile, a cheerful manner, and a great eye for detail. We all fell in love with her during our stay. The pool is large, rarely crowded, and has plenty of sunbeds, so there’s no need to reserve one. Around the place there are lots of shops and restaurants, close to the strip. The breakfast buffet can be hit or miss, but you can help yourself and see what you like. Rooms are spacious, with a hob, microwave, and fridge. There’s no air conditioning, but reception will lend you a fan for free.

Back for the second time at this lovely place, and it feels just like home. pedro (bar) and tonny (restaurant) are such lovely people, they make us feel like family. The food is great, and all the staff are fabulous.

The greenery and views around Apartamentos Masaru are beautiful, and the Agatha Christie Staircase is nearby. The staff are warm, friendly, and always smiling. We chose the breakfast and dinner option and were glad we did. The food is delicious, with special meat and fish dishes, plus Italian food every evening.
