Hotel Beatriz Playa & Spa

The kids loved the arcade and spent hours in there. The buffet, drinks included, was amazing, and we liked having both a saltwater pool and a chlorine pool. It's a great spot for a beach holiday, and ours was memorable. The cockroaches were the one thing I couldn't enjoy. After 9pm, if you weren't in your room, they seemed to be everywhere. On one floor there were so many that you could hardly walk or even see the floor. I'd still go again!

I really liked the location. You can take long walks by the sea towards the busier parts of the resort, while the hotel itself is away from the noisy bars and restaurants. The beach goes on for miles, so it doesn't feel crowded. The spa was excellent. I had a relaxing massage and enjoyed the warm indoor pool with all its different jets. One of the outdoor pools was heated too, which was lovely once the sun came out. The food wasn't really to my taste. It was bland, and the oriental buffet tasted unlike any Asian food I've tried. The cooks need more training with spices. The bar areas also weren't very welcoming, though we didn't have to go far to find friendlier places. We still had a pleasant stay overall.

For a short winter break, this was an average, decent place, and the location is its strong point. The food was fine at breakfast and lunch, but dinner got repetitive and wasn't appetising. I was on all inclusive. The hotel looks dated and really needs renovation, although if decor doesn't bother you, it's a good place to stay. There are some rules that felt a bit much: a euro deposit for a plastic cup, and you had to reserve breakfast on the terrace. I was refused coffee there even though lots of seats were empty. Don't let the negative reviews put you off.

Curious about the new activity the animation team had started, I tried it out in the hotel's show bar. It turned out to be a lot of fun. Lara and Catalina were so friendly and patient, which made the whole thing even better. If you fancy doing something different while you're there, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go!
