The balcony privacy could be improved a lot. Some sort of sliding divider or barrier between neighboring balconies would help. There are also a few practical things that should be easy to sort out: no hand soap in the bathroom, very little bathroom storage, and more wall hooks would be useful, including near the apartment entrance. The worst issue was the shower drain. The floor slopes the wrong way, so water runs into the hallway. The door frames get wet and are already showing moisture damage and mold. Trash bags aren’t left in the room either, so when the bin is full you have to go to reception to ask for more. A few spare bags in the apartment would make sense. The place is basically clean, the pool area is very nice, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The location worked well for us. But small problems like these start to add up. Cleaning is only every other day. If you cook, you’re expected to wash your dishes, which is fair, but no washing-up supplies are provided, so you have to buy them yourself. The kitchen has decent equipment but is missing basics like scissors and a proper kitchen knife. It would also be useful to have salt and cooking oil. Recycling feels pretty superficial. Separate room bins for plastic, glass and other items would be welcome.

The check-in was quick and easy, and I found the facilities well maintained and the atmosphere welcoming. I had a pleasant stay at Bitacora Lanzarote and would recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable visit to Lanzarote. The Wi-Fi worked reliably most of the time, though the speed occasionally fluctuated. The bed was comfortable enough, but could have been better.

The bar had Frank Sinatra and Elvis, and there was food you could get for snacks, which was edible. The seafront felt a bit like little Ireland with a touch of India. There’s a great cliff walk down to Porto Calero, the next village, and a bus back that takes 15 mins. My apartment seemed refurbished to a good standard, and the cleaners were always around. It had air con, though I didn’t need it. The hill is a bit of a walk if you have cardiac problems, but taxis are cheap.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Bitacora Lanzarote and will definitely be back. The location was perfect for exploring the area, check-in was a breeze, and the WiFi was super fast, so staying connected was easy. Highly recommend!
