You can walk to Puerto del carmen from Sal y Mar apartments in Matagorda in about 25 minutes, and the promenade, restaurants and shops are just a few minutes away. In fact, pretty much everything is within a five-minute walk, including two small supermarkets, car, bike and mobility scooter hire, and a good range of bars and pubs. There are places to eat Irish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Spanish food, so there’s plenty of choice. A shout-out to Anthony, landlord of the Sportsman bar, which is a great place to watch a match. The apartments are clean, reasonably well equipped and have good Wi-Fi. The people were very friendly, and I’d definitely come back to Matagorda. It’s about a 10 euro taxi ride from the airport, though you do hear planes coming and going from 7am to 11 pm, every 5 -7 minutes at peak times. I got used to the noise and it didn’t bother me.

We had a positive stay in a nice apartment in a quiet area near Puerto Carmen. The pool was pleasant and kept clean, and the reception staff were friendly. They also gave us some heating when the flat got cold. There were a few drawbacks: no oven, and using the shared washing machine cost 3€. The WiFi was available but a bit slow and intermittent. Both rooms had two separate beds, which I didn’t like.

Jessica was a lovely host, kind, helpful and easy to communicate with. The accommodation was beautifully clean, and the location is beautiful too. The bungalows are accessible for wheelchairs and scooters. It’s a quiet, friendly gated complex of 10 bungalows with a private pool, and I’d definitely stay again.

There are only 10 apartments in this secure complex, conveniently close to the shopping centre and beach. The apartments are nicely laid out, spacious enough, and the WiFi is very good. A lovely place to stay.
