Tropicana Apartamentos

It was a poor experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation. We stayed last week, and it was hard to find. The apartment was dirty and poorly equipped, and the service was very poor. Management was hard to find when we needed help, then ignored us and didn’t want to listen. By day four I was covered in bed bug bites, but they refused to change the bedding. We didn’t get fresh towels until the fourth day either.

Please read the reviews before booking. The place was manky. I had to be moved to another apartment because of cockroaches, and the manager didn’t even apologise. I got bites all over from the beds, the pillows were yellow, and the towels were disgusting. I ended up leaving because I didn’t feel safe.

This was our second stay. The apartments are basic, but fine if you just need a shower and a bed, and we haven’t had any problems so far. We always eat out and don’t use the pool, which didn’t look inviting. When we have an evening flight, we leave our bags locked in reception, come back to shower, then put the key in the key box when we leave.

The location is fantastic and the rooms are spacious, which makes the poor customer service even more of a shame. Reception was practically nonexistent. We waited ages to check in and had to call the property several times. We had to pay a €100 damage deposit, which was only grudgingly returned the day before departure. Since we were checking out at 5am, we were told we’d have to come back later because reception wouldn’t open until 11.30am. The TV didn’t work because there was no signal, and there was no WiFi information or password. We got no room service for three days, even though we saw housekeeping going in and out of other apartments each day, so we had to buy our own toilet paper. The towels were thin and threadbare. Water to the whole complex went off in the early morning and wasn’t back until 10.30am. Management didn’t tell us anything. We and other residents had to take the salad drawers from our fridges and fill them with pool water to flush the toilets. As another reviewer said, this is clearly an ongoing issue. I wouldn’t recommend it. Customer service was nonexistent, and management clearly didn’t care about the guests.
