La Aldea Encantada

After walking from the Camino toward Belorado, I was glad they could drive me back after breakfast. This peaceful rural hotel is close to the Camino and felt like a lovely break from the albergues and hotels along the route. It’s run by a mother and daughter, with children and a dog around too. The daughter is a trained massage therapist, and I highly recommend getting a massage while you’re there. A wonderful place to stay.

Ana made sure I was comfortable, even though I don’t speak any Spanish and she doesn’t speak any English. The food was homely and really good, and breakfast set me up for the day. It’s a little out of the way, but useful if you want a shorter Camino journey. The room was totally dark and quiet, so I slept like a baby for nine hours. It wasn’t the cheapest room or meal I’ve had, but it was very good value. I’d recommend this little sanctuary.

The place was clean, warm and peaceful, and the homemade food was excellent. Ana, her mother and the rest of the family were so attentive and made everyone feel like one of their own. They helped arrange taxis and food to go, and offered to pick us up from the Camino. The road was only 900m away, so we took the very easy, short walk instead. We accidentally took the key with us, and they were still understanding and generous. It was hard to leave, and I can’t recommend them enough.

After walking more than 100km, I was so glad to find a comfortable place to rest. Anna reminded me so much of my own grandmother, and I really enjoyed staying with her.
