La Onda

Waking up to the mountains, with a cool breeze and coffee surrounded by nature, was hard to beat. Beaches and mountain trails are nearby, Santander feels close, and Bilbao is right next door. The location is unbeatable. Joaquín, the owner, gave us so much helpful advice, and the care we received made this one of the best holidays we've ever had. Everything was spectacular. Joaquín is very friendly and gives you all the information you need. The apartment is very clean, well equipped, and in an excellent location. It’s a lovely place for walks, near the river, mountains, and beach, and definitely somewhere I’d return to. One drawback: it isn’t suitable for people with reduced mobility or dogs that might run off.

On our third holiday at Casa Rural La Onda, we still leave with a little nostalgia, already knowing we’ll return. It has become a place that feels like home, a quiet retreat among Cantabria’s mountains, green meadows, and fresh air. The apartments are spacious and comfortable, with terraces where morning coffee turns into time spent taking in the landscape. Everything is impeccably clean. Joaquín is attentive and hospitable, and his recommendations make the stay even more welcoming. We’re especially glad pets are warmly received. Our joyful Labrador, Mia, feels at home with room to roam, fresh air, and freedom, which makes this a great fit for families traveling with pets. In the mornings, cows and sheep graze on the green hillsides, their bells mixing with the roosters’ crowing. The sounds give the days a special charm, and time seems to move more slowly and peacefully. Casa Rural La Onda brings together Cantabria’s authentic charm and modern comfort. Whether you’re after peace and quiet, new trails and scenery, or attentive care and room for happy moments with children and pets, there’s something here to enjoy. For us, it’s more than a holiday. It’s memories we want to come back to.

The owner's friendliness really stood out, and the place is surrounded by nature. Everything had been thought through down to the smallest detail: the rooms were spacious and very clean, with a really comfortable mattress. Breakfast is homemade, plentiful, and served in the house next door. Highly recommended.
