Masia CasaJoana Rural

The views and quiet here are hard to put into words. Marc and his family were so welcoming that we felt right at home, and we’d definitely go back. We brought our tiny pinscher, and their dog was very sweet and friendly too. We also had dinner here, and Marc’s dishes were absolutely amazing. He’s a professional chef. Just the perfect place to relax and disconnect!

We came looking for peace and rest, and found exactly that in this charming guesthouse and its gorgeous rural setting. The dining room is sweet, and our rustic, charming room had quality furnishings. Marc and Miriam were friendly hosts who made us feel welcome and comfortable. Dinner is well worth having: we loved Marc’s food, though a little more time between courses would have helped us avoid eating so much so quickly. When I left my coat behind at checkout, Miriam kindly arranged to courier it back. I’m very grateful for the effort, especially given how rural the place is and what a hassle it must have been. Thank you, Miriam! There were a couple of things we struggled with. The rooms seem to be converted farm buildings and aren’t insulated like a regular house, so there was a noticeable damp smell. It didn’t spoil the stay, but we were aware of it, and the bedding felt a little clammy when we arrived. The adorable chicken coop sits between the bedrooms, which meant there were flies everywhere in warm weather. We couldn’t leave the door open, and had to hurry in and out to keep flies from getting into the room. We also found it hard to relax on the lovely terrace with so many flies. We moved the loungers as far away as we could, though then worried we might offend the hosts :( Even so, we had a beautiful time and will return as soon as we can. We miss Marc’s food :)

We stayed at Masia Casajoana last June, and it’s still on our minds, which is why I’m writing this now. It was easily the best place we stayed in Spain. The room was quaint and clean, with everything needed to feel comfortable. The property is beautiful and the views are amazing. Be sure to try the food and horseback riding. You’ll be blown away.

I only ended up here by chance, since all the city hotels were booked or overpriced during the mobile phone congress in Barcelona. It wasn’t easy to find, especially after dark, but it was absolutely worth it. The hosts were so welcoming, the food was excellent, and the place is a real treasure. Also, the road has been redone.
