Meson El Pucheru

We sat in the glass-enclosed dining room, which was cosy, bright and especially pleasant. There are several rooms to choose from, and the calm atmosphere makes it easy to take your time over a meal. Street parking was easy to find. At El Pucheru 4 Almas, the ingredients really stand out. The cooking is careful, the flavours feel authentic, and the raw ingredients are excellent. The staff were warm, attentive and very professional. It's around €50 per person, so whether you go back may depend on your budget, but it's certainly a restaurant worth revisiting.

The cocido montañés was the standout for us, one of the best in Cantabria, and the ham was spectacular too. The starters were tasty, and the other dishes had lovely flavours, textures and little details. They don't have a wine list, but you can pick a bottle from their cellar, which gives the meal a nice touch. Set in a beautiful village, the restaurant has a charming feel, with a terrace outside and cosy rooms indoors. Service was friendly and professional, and the prices felt excellent for the quality. They welcome pets as well. We had a phenomenal meal and would happily return. Highly recommended!

The fish portion was small for the price, which was my one real gripe. Otherwise, it was a peaceful, cosy place to eat, with tasty food prepared with care. Service was good, courses came without much of a wait, and the quality felt fair for what we paid. A nice spot for a good meal.

The service made the meal for us. Our waiter was great at steering us toward dishes and his recommendations were spot on. The food was just as memorable: stews cooked over an open fire, excellent meat and fish, and desserts that were clearly made with care. It was all delicious, and a welcome change from traditional cooking, even for an award-winning restaurant.
