Hotel Gaudí

I'm fond of that 70s and 80s look, the natural wood furniture, even the brass window handle that didn't work, and the squeaky doors and dated bits all have their charm. But the internet needs to work properly, and the rest of it should too.

The best thing was how close it is to the centre of Reus. The rest of our one-night stay was disappointing: the sheets had holes, the plates were dirty and chipped, and the food was lukewarm. The bedrooms were hot and stuffy, and the staff seemed indifferent.

The room was spotless and a decent size, with a good bed and an unbelievable view. Staff were polite, friendly, and always smiling. I booked at the very last minute and got the best price in town. Breakfast was decent, and the watermelon was unbelievable. The hotel could use a refurbishment to bring it into the 21st century, as other customers have said, though it still has its own charm. One odd thing: no cold water came from the tap even after I let it run for a while. My iPhone and iPad security settings wouldn't work with the hotel's wifi, but another Android device connected without trouble. Thanks for a great last-minute stay!

The room was large and quiet at night, and the air conditioning worked fine, if it wasn't very sophisticated. Breakfast was good and generous. For the price compared with other hotels, it felt worth it, and I was glad I stayed.
