The reception staff did try to help, but the answer for a €250-a-night stay was that I could buy several coffees at the bar in the evening if I had a thermos, then drink them the next day. I understand the breakfast room may be run separately, but there are no other coffee or tea facilities in the hotel, so it’s hard to separate the two. The hotel itself is pleasant and clean, and check-in went well. I thought carefully before posting this, and I appreciate that the owner replied kindly. Still, there’s nowhere else to get coffee or food within 2 km, and I can’t understand a four-star hotel having no coffee available. If you ask for one, they make you pay for the full breakfast even if you only want a coffee. We were still checked in when we got the coffee from staff, but apparently leaving the room afterward led to the breakfast staff telling people a story about us. Someone made up a claim that we had flipped them off. It was the first time in Spain that we felt discriminated against. The scenery is lovely, but I wouldn’t come back.

We had a wonderful weekend here, and we’re already thinking about coming back for a longer stay. Two nights would suit us better next time. It was peaceful and comfortable, and dinner at the restaurant was a real highlight, especially the homemade lime butter. The staff were helpful, the spa treatment was excellent, and although I didn’t try the pool, it looked nice.

The breakfast was only mediocre, water came through the windows one night, and I’d be wary of parking near those lamps as they might not hold for long. The Wi-Fi also didn’t work, so count on being offline. We booked because the branding and main image gave me the impression the pool was included. We were willing to pay the high price for that, then arrived to find the extra pool fee buried in the fine print. It felt like a rip-off and wasn’t welcoming at all.

The setting is gorgeous, and the hotel feels modern and comfortable, but you can’t walk into town from here. The restaurant was closed, and the bar seemed unattended whenever we needed it, which made the stay inconvenient. Although the hotel is advertised with an indoor pool, using the spa pool costs an extra €15 per person, plus a swimming cap. You need to book well ahead, and access is limited to 90 minutes. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Lovely surroundings, and Ribadesella is very close. I’ll definitely come back.
