At €65 per room, this was fair enough for a cheap hotel and good for a night or two. The bed was clean and surprisingly comfortable. The rooms have an old 80s look, with old-fashioned furniture, even though they seem to have been renovated a few years ago. There are plenty of rooms. I’d probably ask for one facing the river, which runs right under the window, rather than the main road. Breakfast is basic, with a few hams, croissants, and donuts, but fair for €6. There’s a restaurant in the hotel, though we didn’t try it because there are at least two extremely good restaurants nearby.

Gemma is so kind and always ready to help, and Gil is an amazing chef whose menus feature great Mediterranean food. His papas bravas and potato chips are the best in the world! The hotel belongs to a beautiful, super welcoming family. The cozy, comfortable rooms keep the local historical tradition, and you can choose one overlooking the lovely river and mountains. The eggs with botifarra were great, as were the barbecued galtes de porc. The garlic soup could have been better. We waited a while, but had a homebrewed beer by the fireplace while we did. If we come back to Ribes de Freser, we’ll have dinner here again.

I could hear the river from my room as I fell asleep, which was really relaxing. A lovely little hotel with a very friendly family. I’ll come back!
