The only good part of the weekend was how kind and friendly the people in town were. The house itself felt like it was coming apart. Damp, cracked walls were peeling, the bathroom ceiling was crumbling, and another bedroom ceiling had sagged into a bulge that made it look ready to fall. The bathroom doors wouldn't shut, the fridge didn't cool anything except the freezer, and the ceiling fans looked so poorly attached I couldn't understand how they were still up. There was no air conditioning, and most of the portable fans were broken. The working ones were so dusty that switching them on spread dust around the rooms. The barbecue sat beneath dried vines, which seemed like a fire waiting to happen. The paving was warped, loose in places, and broken in others. Cleanliness was just as bad. Dust covered the sofas, and one friend with a dust allergy had to leave early because he couldn't breathe in the house. The kitchen drawers held rubbish and used cooking oil in a can, and a moldy tub was being used for dishcloths and scouring pads. There was no dish soap, so we had to buy some ourselves to clean the dusty dishes. We came for a weekend with friends to celebrate a bachelor party, but the house had a long list of problems.

Our host was welcoming, great, and gave us useful advice. The rooms, though, are basic and feel unfinished. The bathroom also has no hot water when another guest is using it. It seems a shame, since the place could be much better with things like soundproofing.

A good place to stay in a really quiet village, with unbeatable scenery for hiking and climbing.

The owners are so friendly and attentive. Definitely worth visiting.

I went to check the place out in person, and it looked closed.
