Casa Alta

There’s plenty of parking and a lovely refreshing pool, and we got a friendly welcome at Villa Casa Alta. The main building has loads of character, and they make and sell their own olive oil on site. It sits among olive groves with beautiful views, about 20 minutes from Ronda town. You definitely need a car. Breakfast is a simple continental spread.

The place was much better than we expected for the price, and I'd happily recommend a stay in the area. It's a lovely spot with a pool and sun loungers or chairs, and the views are astounding. It's a bit remote, so you'll need a car. After the gate opens, you follow an idyllic little road to the accommodation. The host shares the code soon after booking. We stayed one night to visit Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas, then walk El Caminito del Rey the next day. We can recommend all three. The owners were very friendly, showed us around and helped where they could. Rooms are large and generally neat, though they could use a deep clean. The bed was a little short, around 1.80-1.90, but we still slept well. Breakfast was okay. I would've liked more choice, though I understand that's harder in a remote location.

The villa has a nice road leading to it and a really good view of the pool. The bathroom was big and nice, but the room was a problem. We left some food there, and after an hour in the pool came back to find hundreds of ants. The beds weren't very comfortable either.

Nala, the resident cat, was the real star for me. So gentle and affectionate, always ready to greet you with cuddles, and she made the place feel even more like home. I honestly didn't want to leave this peaceful, charming house near Ronda. The views are breathtaking, and the pool is a lovely place to relax in the Andalusian sun. Breakfast was delicious and properly Spanish, with jamón ibérico, local cheese and fresh bread. The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming throughout. From the tree-lined drive to the wooden details and traditional ceramic floors, the house has a beautiful rustic feel. The rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms spacious, and every corner feels peaceful and inviting. A truly incredible stay in the southern Spanish countryside.
