Ronda Moments

Ronda moments was a great experience for us. We loved the place, surrounded by nature, with a great view and attention to every detail of the house. When I got in touch about a problem with the booking payment, they sorted it out as soon as I contacted them. It’s 10-15 min from Ronda, and was a perfect match for us.

The food was really good and everyone was friendly, but we couldn’t find a Ronda map at reception. Our twin room was very basic, and the bathroom had one plumbing issue after another: the taps didn’t work properly, the stoppers wouldn’t open, the shower leaked across the floor, and the sink dripped into the cabinet. We were at the back of the building, too, so kitchen smells and noise from people smoking and talking came through. The price was good for what you got, but it wasn’t for us. The pool was only reachable by a poorly kept path beside a field with horses and their mess. I’d only suggest it if you just need a bed for one night.

The property is attractive, has good facilities, and sits in lovely countryside. I chose it for the low price, free parking, and decent online rating, and it could be worth recommending with more attention to security, communication, and basic details. As it stands, several things made the stay stressful. I paid extra for a balcony, but got a windowless attic room where the balcony door was the only natural light. There was almost no storage, just a few hooks, a folding luggage rack, and a small chest of drawers. The low bed wouldn’t fit a standard carry-on underneath, and there was no desk or table. The balcony view was lovely. The mattress suited me, firm enough, though the small pillows were uncomfortable. The inside bolt and hook didn’t line up, so the door couldn’t be secured from within. There was a kettle but no milk, not even powdered. About five weeks before arrival, I received a WhatsApp asking for a supposedly mandatory, refundable deposit worth one and a half times the room price, even though I’d already paid. It was a scam, which the hotel confirmed. They never explained how the sender had my name, booking reference, dates, and phone number, and offered no apology, explanation, or information about looking into it. The final stretch of road is very narrow in places, sometimes wide enough for one car only. We met oncoming traffic three times in two days and had to reverse to a passing spot. That may be no big deal for confident drivers, but I found it nerve-racking. Being about 15 minutes from town was an acceptable trade-off for the price. Check-in was all digital, with codes for the building and room, and we were left to ourselves. We didn’t see any staff until we rang the reception bell while leaving to make sure someone knew we were there. March may be quiet season, but having no people around felt soulless. The lock codes came with no directions, either. It worked the first and third times; the second and fourth times, touching the panel entered a wrong digit instead of waking it up for us to choose. The first time that happened, my partner and I took turns and got it wrong six times. Then the lock started screaming and locked itself. A phone number was posted outside for problems, but wrestling with the door and having to call for help is the last thing you want at a hotel.

I loved the atmosphere here, it really stayed with me. The house seems to have been an estate at one time, and its authentic decor has the feel of a Spanish mountain village. Olive groves and country estates surround the hotel.
