Hostal Virgen del Rocio

Right near the old bridge, on a restaurant street and within a short walk of most Ronda tourist attractions. Great location for seeing the sights. The hotel isn't especially beautiful, but it isn't ugly either. The beds were acceptable, and the rooms had a TV and air-conditioning. A decent hotel at a fair price.

The location is good, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the hostel is fine for the price. But I was thoroughly disappointed with how management handled our stay. There were ants all over the floor and in our bags, though we had no food in them. Staff blamed us for attracting them instead of offering help. I even wondered if the patterned floor tiles helped the ants blend in unnoticed. Staff also let themselves into our room without telling us, which was unsettling, so we hadn't locked up our personal items. They advertise free WiFi, but it doesn't work. I'd definitely stay somewhere else next time.

The location was the only thing I liked. We found ants in our room and luggage, which had no food in it, and staff showed no remorse, saying it was our fault. They also came in without warning, supposedly to change the sheets, and moved and touched all our things. The door locks are finicky and don't feel secure, as someone could break in. The building has one central WiFi connection with poor signal, so don't count on internet access. Maybe it's fine if you just need an easy stay, but stay at your own risk. Hope there aren't any bed bugs!

We returned to find out what damage we were supposed to have caused to the metal bed. The host showed it to us, but we didn't agree with the accusation. We couldn't see how sleeping or sitting in it could have bent the metal that way. We were falsely accused and charged an extra 50 €. The host was aggressive, and we left without our 50 €.
