Being right in the center couldn’t make up for how bleak the apartment felt. There were very few windows, covered with frosted film, and the cold, dim lighting made the place feel oppressive. With torrential rain outside, we needed somewhere comforting to come back to, but the bare tiled room just wasn’t that kind of refuge.

The AC only worked for about two hours, and the host was unresponsive when we raised the noise from the room next door. We heard banging on the wall, a child screaming, and balls being thrown against it, even at 2am. The host didn’t seem to care or try to sort it out. The walls are paper thin. Edit: Other bad reviews make it seem like the owner and their property are never at fault, and they’ll lie about what happened. There were no children with autism, no night crisis, and no insults thrown at them. It was a family showing no respect, letting their children yell and play games until 2am, when we knocked on their door. They finally quieted down after we said we’d involve the police if it continued.

I’d booked two rooms for myself, with a living room and patio, and arrived around 10:30 in the evening. With help from the neighbors, I somehow got behind my door, but there was no key in it. I called the owner, who came knocking, and found that another couple had been given my room. Because it was late, I was put in their room instead. The owner said I could stay there for both days and that the rooms were identical. I told him the one I’d paid for was 90 square meters and this one was maybe 60, and that I’d paid for a balcony. He said there were no balconies in this hotel. I still wanted my own room the next day. His wife looked bored, was staring at her phone, and didn’t even smile. I’d booked through booking.com because I wanted a hotel that allowed dogs and had parking. The owner said they only allowed one dog, though I had three. The hotel notice said animals were allowed in plural, in both English and Spanish. I understood parking at the hotel to mean it was attached to the property, but instead I had to look for parking a kilometer away and walk back with three dogs and luggage. He kindly said I wouldn’t have to pay extra for the dogs and could bring all three. They were small, and I had nobody to take care of them. The next day I could switch rooms, thank goodness. The room I’d been put in had three windows, but when I opened them all I could see was a wall. It felt like a prison, though I’ve never been in one. At last I got my own room with a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a patio. The only good thing about this hotel for me was the cleaning ladies. They were nice and kept it clean, except for the toilet seats. My whole Ronda experience left me thinking, thanks, but no thanks.

It’s clean, spacious, fairly new, and in a great location. The towels could use fabric softener, though. Sandpaper is softer. The decor could also be more imaginative.
