Hotel La Casona De La Torre

I appreciated how kind the owner of Casona de la Torre was when we arrived. Still, I want to share what happened for other travelers. We booked two nights for €198 through a Booking.com deal, but left after the first because we were so uncomfortable in room 202 on the second floor. There was a musty smell, dark marks on the walls, and our clothes felt damp while we were in the room. Air fresheners were placed around the house, which made it seem as though they might be there to cover the odor. The room and bathroom also had problems. We found dust up high, including on the bed canopy, and large spiders. The bathroom drain leaked a little. The furniture was quite old, and the spring mattress was uncomfortable and seemed due for replacement. The wooden floors meant we could hear other guests walking around. It's an old house with its charm, but there is no elevator, so that may matter if you have heavy bags or children. We also had questions about the check-in arrangements. The stay was charged when we arrived, although the information said payment would be during the stay. They asked to photocopy my ID, which surprised me because I don't think that practice follows the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The service itself was adequate, but the dampness and condition of the room were far below what we expected. We couldn't sleep that first night, so we left.
