Hotel Ipanema Beach

The kitchen really stood out, with different dishes each day. We were very pleased with our stay and the service was top-notch. The reception staff were so polite and helped us with everything, especially the girls there. I’d recommend this hotel.

We left a day early because we weren’t happy. The beach is close and fairly nice, but the area didn’t feel pretty or authentically Mallorquin. It seemed aimed at low-end tourism, with mostly kebab shops, cheap souvenir stores, and many shops selling sexual items. I wouldn’t want my child exposed to that. We did find one or two good shops with local handcrafted goods, and there are grocery stores and German pubs nearby. The room looked clean and was nicely decorated, but on day two a sewer smell came from a vent. We had to air it out and sleep with the windows open. The bed was comfortable, although the bottom sheet kept coming loose because it wasn’t made properly. There was a coffee machine but no water provided. We were told not to drink the tap water and to buy some at the supermarket. The receptionist also seemed surprised that the room had coffee pods. The place has the design and feel of a four-star hotel, but to me it was more like two stars. We had to wear plastic guest bracelets because of past robberies. There was no minibar fridge, and we were told a fridge would cost 8 euros per day when I needed to store something on our last day. Breakfast was another hassle. You couldn’t pay in the dining room, only at reception and then show proof of payment. With just 15 minutes before service ended, they wouldn’t let me do that, prepare a plate, or set aside fruit and a few pastries to collect after paying. The phone in the room didn’t say what number to call for reception. When we asked, they told us to read all the signs on the reception table, about 10 A4 stands. We were asked to come down to sign a form. When we said we’d do it next time we came down, the receptionist got upset and said she didn’t want to come up to make us sign. It turned out to be about a noise complaint after I accidentally knocked over an unstable bedside table. Another receptionist was nice, but when we said we were unhappy, nobody offered to move us or apologized. There was also a doorstop in the room passageway that we painfully bumped our feet on. The hotel gave us the impression of a four-star stay in a beautiful location, but that wasn’t our experience.

The pool was lovely, and the bar staff were polite and happy to help. The hotel was very clean and the area wasn’t noisy. Breakfast and dinner were okay, but by 10 o’clock at breakfast there wasn’t enough room for all the guests.

The hotel was clean from the rooms to the pool, smelled nice, and had friendly employees. Breakfast and dinner buffets were both very good and reasonably priced. I’d give the place five stars if not for tourists in this and neighboring hotels partying until midnight as if nobody else were there.
