It was our first visit to Spain. We’re from Canada and had already been traveling in France for a while when we spent a night at Hotel Restaurante Santa Elena. It’s a charming, cozy hotel in the countryside. Finding it wasn’t very easy, but it was well worth the effort. Daniel and his father, who own the place, were so friendly and made our stay unforgettable. I’m glad Daniel was the first person I met in Spain. Dani made us a delicious breakfast the next morning, and being somewhere full of smiles was a real pleasure. Kindness and friendliness are what this hotel is known for. Meeting Dani was the start of Spain for me, and such a lovely one.

Daniel and his father made us feel right at home in this peaceful countryside hotel. They even put together an early dinner for us. It’s a lovely family-run place, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Tony and his son treated us like kings, opening the doors for us after midnight and making us feel so welcome. It’s a simple, clean place with a wonderful atmosphere. Breakfast was exceptional too, and they’ll do whatever you want for you. Thanks, Tony, for such a great experience!

They charged extra for the dogs, yet the place didn’t feel pet friendly. We weren’t allowed to leave them unattended in the room or in the bar, so I don’t understand the extra fee. In our double room we got a camp bed and one very old, stained towel, which wasn’t what I expected. Reading the other reviews, I wondered if I’d stayed at a different hotel or if some were fake. I’m unhappy with the stay, won’t return, and don’t recommend it.

The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable, and the hotel was quiet. We stopped for one night while heading south for some sun, after a lovely drive through the Pyrenees. The owner was unwell, so his charming young son was running the place. He was pleased to practise his English and made us feel welcome, then arranged an impromptu dinner and breakfast the next morning. What more could you ask?
