The place felt old, and the bathroom wasn’t private as the listing said.

The place wasn’t very clean, either. I usually don’t review places I visit, but I’m writing this to help others avoid a bad experience. This was my second stay here while traveling, and the owner wasn’t friendly on either visit. This time was the worst. I felt unwell and couldn’t walk, so I tried to sleep in, but before 10:00 AM someone tried to force my locked door open without knocking. I wondered what they would have done if it hadn’t been locked, and where my privacy was. Forty minutes later the owner returned, banging very loudly and saying I had to leave so they could clean. Booking.com said checkout was by midnight, and the payment slip he’d given us said the same. I showed him the checkout rules he had posted himself, but he kept insisting I had to leave earlier, even though it was the only occupied room. It was a horrible experience. If you can stay somewhere else, do.

We arrived to find the heating off, despite it being 5-7°C outside. We had to switch on the thermostat ourselves, and it would’ve been appreciated if they’d turned it on beforehand. The kitchen was dirty, and the fridge still had food from previous guests, as if nobody had checked it. The person who welcomed us wasn’t the owner and came across as rude and unfriendly. He questioned our Booking.com reservation and seemed to suspect we’d tried to trick them by booking for fewer people.

The house was sunny, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. We had a fantastic four days there, and it was great value for the money. Definitely recommend it.
