The walls are so thin that you hear everything from the neighbors, and the room felt filthy. It absolutely wasn’t worth what we paid, and I wouldn’t recommend it. The remote check-in didn’t work, and the customer service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. This tour management company should be avoided. I wish there were a zero star rating.

For the price, it’s very cheap for salamanca. There’s no reception, so everything is handled online, though they provide phone numbers and the office is just around the corner in plaza mayor. The rooms are small, but they make good use of the space and had everything we wanted, including a brilliant shower, coat hooks, and a small desk. A kitchenette was advertised, but we didn’t have one.

The location is excellent, and the room was pretty standard but very clean. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable, though, and sound carries into the room, especially when the hostel door opens and shuts, even from far away. Most of the trouble came from having to manage things ourselves. There’s nobody at reception, check-in is online, and the keys are digital. We had no hot water, so we called and got a kind of switchboard. The staff were polite, but on holiday the last thing you want is to be calling at 10 pm to ask whether someone can send a technician because there’s no water. With no one on site, the switchboard had me check other rooms to find out if they had hot water, to see whether the issue was just ours or more general. That shouldn’t have been my job. The ceiling fan had no remote either. I called again and was told previous guests had stolen it. Breakfast was included, but served at a café in another establishment used by guests from several accommodations. There were only six tables, so if you didn’t get there early, you couldn’t find a seat. The phone staff, boiler technician, and café staff were friendly. The bad experience came from poor management and having nobody physically at the hostel to deal with problems.
