The staff are about as friendly as they come, and the rooms are open and pleasant. It's near the city center and universities, and the residence feels pretty luxurious, probably one of the best in Salamanca. But there are enough problems to bring it down. The internet is only okay, and it has failed completely before, right in the middle of finals, which caused real trouble. The food is another letdown. It's technically edible, but for the price and the quality of everything else, you'd expect something better than an average school cafeteria meal. Even the pizza isn't good. A lot of the decisions feel stingy. You have to pay for printing, while most residences include some free pages. There's only one microwave for 200 people, and the laundry room is cramped and usually full. The staff can't really fix these things since the choices come from higher up. For the most expensive option, I'd expect it to be the best across the board. Basic things students need should also be easy to access or free, but that's not how it is. It's alright, just disappointing in those respects.
The facilities were spotless, and the staff were welcoming and really helpful. A special shout out to Pilar and the gentleman with black curly hair at Reception. One suggestion about the meals: could there be at least one vegan or vegetarian choice besides salads?
The staff were always around and very helpful, the rooms were clean and designed well for students, and the air conditioning was powerful. Wi-Fi worked, and the vending machine coffee was the best, especially for 65 cents. We also had fun with the newer table tennis setup. There's a gym with some free weights that look about 50 years old, plus a TV room with a pool table. The bus stop right outside is handy, and one bus goes straight to the train station for weekend trips. The main issue for us was the bed arrangement. My wife and I stayed 15 days after the university booked this place. Before arriving, I asked them hundreds of times for one double bed. Instead, our room had two separate beds divided by a bookcase. Staff said there was a couples' room, but it would cost 15 euros more per day. That felt like poor service and bad business. I didn't expect much, but this was a real problem. There's no kitchen to use, just a smelly microwave room. Students may want to buy food and keep it in a fridge, but that's not possible. The walls are only a little thicker than A4 paper, so you hear everything from the neighbors. Also, it's a 1.5-2 km walk to the university, which could be rough in very hot or cold weather. If you're a couple staying in Salamanca for two or three weeks for a language course like we were, you can find better places in the center for the same price range. We checked and confirmed it. Still, I liked the table tennis, and the helpful staff earned two stars from me. Hope this long review helps, and have a nice stay.
I've stayed here for summers in Salamanca for years. The price is great, it's fully modern and has air conditioning, and the staff are the best.
Good for a residence. The gym and entertainment room are a plus. Most floors don't have a mini fridge or microwave.
